CELEBRATING 4 DECADES OF CONSTRUCTION EXCELLENCE
History

Incorporated by Gordon Kovich in Houston, Texas in 1969, Alpha Building Corporation jumped in to the construction industry in a big way. In 1973 Alpha was awarded the Construction Services contract for NASA at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. We served NASA, its astronauts, engineers, scientists and managers from Apollo to Shuttle, 1973 to 1990. Through four competitive contracts, Alpha performed $52,575,000.00 of work orders in all facilities at the Space Center and at Ellington Field.

In addition to our work for NASA, we were performing Design/Build work for a variety of clients including the City of Houston, Spring Branch ISD, General Telephone Company, Guaranty Federal Savings & Loan and St. Martha’s Catholic Church.

In 1987 we enlarged our market to include the new Job Order Contract/ SABER programs developed by the Department of Defense, and in response to the award of four contracts in the area, we moved our corporate offices to San Antonio, Texas.

In 1992 Alpha moved into the education arena when we were awarded the Work Order Requirements Contract by Texas A&M University. Job Order Contracts continue to be Alpha’s core business to this day. Today, Alpha is being guided by a second generation of the Kovich family, Kathleen Kovich Acock who is Alpha’s majority owner and President. The company continues to focus on its original commitment to providing quality work to its clients and a great place to work for its employees.
